Microsoft has announced they are sunsetting extended support for SQL 2008 effective July 9, 2019, and for Windows Server 2008 on January 14, 2020. If you are currently running this SQL or Windows version on your server, an upgrade of SQL and Windows server is required. Once the server is upgraded by your IT team, server migration (Medflow data migration) is required. Eye Care Leaders will provide this service at a cost explained in the form below.
IMPORTANT HIPAA NOTIFICATION: As covered entities under HIPAA, all practices are responsible for identifying and mitigating the risks unpatched software poses to ePHI (164.308(a)(1)(ii)(A), 164.308(a)(1)(ii)(B)). As Microsoft sunsets Windows 2008 Server and SQL Server 2008, practices must take action to ensure that ePHI is housed in protected environments in order to fulfill HIPAA requirements and regulatory obligations.

Migration – A migration is the act of moving data from one location (server) to a different location (server).
Standard Medflow Migration – A migration of all of the Medflow data from one server to another, in which the new server has the old server’s IP address/hostname.
Complex Medflow Migration – A migration of all the Medflow data where the new server is issued a new IP address/hostname. This type of migration will require the clinic to provide onsite assistance to update all diagnostic equipment and workstations that have the Medflow application installed.
