Microsoft has announced they are sunsetting extended support for SQL 2008 effective July 9, 2019, and for Windows Server 2008 on January 14, 2020. As a result of this announcement, an upgrade which will require a server migration needs to be performed since MVE may be running at your location on one or both of the upcoming products being sunset. Eye Care Leaders will provide this service at a cost explained in the order form linked below.

IMPORTANT HIPAA NOTIFICATION: As covered entities under HIPAA, all practices are responsible for identifying and mitigating the risks unpatched software poses to ePHI (164.308(a)(1)(ii)(A), 164.308(a)(1)(ii)(B)). As Microsoft sunsets Windows 2008 Server and SQL Server 2008, practices must take action to ensure that ePHI is housed in protected environments in order to fulfill HIPAA requirements and regulatory obligations.

it is important to decide if conducting this upgrade and staying with a client-server solution is the best route for your practice. If you would like to consider moving to MVE Cloud instead to avoid situations like this in the future, now is a great time to learn more ! Any client who is on MVE Cloud will also have the ability to migrate to myCare MVE which is our new browser-based solution that will be available later in the year.

Please note, we do not offer local IT services such as replacing or upgrading servers but will work directly with your IT resource within the direction you choose to go.

Cloud-based software – Eye Care Leaders offers full suite, cloud-based software options that provide your clinic software over the internet, rather than using locally installed servers.

Migration – A migration is the act of moving My Vision Express data from one location (server) to a different location (server) and updating the My Vision Express version compatible with the new server version.
